A Message to Our CCS Families: Board of Education Passes Resolution to Preserve District Boundaries
Dear Catawba County Schools Families,
Our school year is off to an incredible start, and we are so proud of the energy, effort, and excellence happening in classrooms across Catawba County Schools each day. Thank you for partnering with us to make this a strong and successful year for every student.
At a Special Called Meeting on Thursday, October 16, the Catawba County Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution affirming its commitment to protect and maintain our district’s current legal and geographical boundaries. The resolution—titled “A Resolution to Keep Students in Their Home School District by Protecting and Maintaining Catawba County Schools’ Current Legal and Geographical Boundaries”—reflects the Board’s dedication to the families and communities who have chosen Catawba County Schools.
You may have heard recent discussions from the Catawba County Board of Commissioners about the possibility of consolidating school districts. In addition, neighboring districts have expressed interest in reassigning some CCS students. Because school funding is directly tied to student enrollment, any reduction in our student population would have a significant impact on our staff, programs, and ability to serve students. The Board’s action ensures that CCS can continue providing the high-quality education and support our growing community deserves.
This week and next, the County Commissioners will host town hall meetings to gather public input about the future of public education in Catawba County. We encourage our families to stay informed and engaged in these important community conversations.
