There will be no school for elementary students only due to an Elementary Teacher Workday. (No school for Challenger Early College due to Spring Break). 
Middle and high schools will operate on a normal schedule.
QUEST will operate as usual.

SHERRILLS FORD OPTIMIST – SFO TROJANS FOOTBALL
Enrollment Opened March 1st
The Sherrills Ford Optimist (SFO) Trojans Youth Football Program is excited to announce that registration opens March 1st for the upcoming season!
We are proud to offer a safe, structured, education-based football program focused on skill development, character, teamwork, and community connection. All coaches are USA Football Certified and committed to providing a positive and developmentally appropriate experience for every athlete.
🏈 Programs Offered
Flag Football (Ages 4–6 / Pre-K–1st Grade)
• $60 Registration
• $50 during Early Bird (March 1–14)
Tackle Football (Peewee, JV, Varsity)
• $150–$210 depending on package you choose
• $10 off all divisions during Early Bird (March 1–14)
🏈 What’s Included
• Safe, fundamentals-first coaching
• New helmets and pads
• Sponsored full uniform package (2 jerseys, game pants, socks)
• Emphasis on character, accountability, and teamwork
• Mentorship connections with middle and high school athletes/coaches
📅 Important Dates
Early Bird Discount: March 1–14
Trojan Community Event: March 14 | 1:00–5:00 PM | SFES
An opportunity for interested and enrolled players to meet alumni, middle school and high school Trojans, coaching staff, and program leadership. Families can ask questions, connect with coaches, and experience the Trojan spirit.
Voluntary Spring Training:
Begins March 21 at 9:00 AM
Held on Saturdays leading up to the season.
Financial Assistance Available
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to play. If cost is a concern, families are encouraged to reach out. Financial assistance options are available to ensure access for all athletes.

St. Stephens High School will be hosting three youth football camp nights this summer!
St. Stephens High School will be hosting three youth football camp nights this summer for rising 2nd through 8th graders.  
The dates are :
Tuesday, June 9

Tuesday, June 23
Tuesday, July 14
The time for each night is 7-8:30 pm.  Stay and watch, or have a parents night out! The cost is $20 each night, or $50 for all three nights.

💙 Camp to Community – A Special Event for Families Living with Type 1 Diabetes
Families, caregivers, and children impacted by Type 1 diabetes are invited to Camp to Community, a one-day event designed to bring together learning, connection, and support. Children will enjoy the fun and energy of camp while building real-life diabetes management skills, and caregivers can connect with medical experts and other families who understand the journey. 

📍 Hickory: Lenoir-Rhyne University — March 28
📍 Kannapolis: Kannapolis YMCA — April 18

Hosted by The Diabetes Family Connection, this event offers hands-on learning, encouragement, and a strong sense of community for families navigating Type 1 diabetes.

🌸 Spring Fest – Family Fun!
Highland Baptist Church invites families to a Spring Fest on Saturday, March 28 from 1–4 PM featuring food, music, a petting zoo, games, and more.
Egg Hunt Times:
• 1:45 PM – Littles (under 3)
• 2:15 PM – Preschool (ages 3–5)
• 2:45 PM – Kindergarten–2nd Grade
• 3:15 PM – 3rd–6th Grade

Catawba County Public Health Farmers Market will be back this summer!
Fresh, local produce is available June–September on Thursdays from 10 AM–1 PM in the front parking lot at 3070 11th Ave. Dr. SE, Hickory.
The market accepts cash, debit, EBT, senior vouchers, and WIC Farmers Market vouchers. SNAP participants can also double their dollars—for every $1 spent, receive $1 more for fruits and vegetables (up to $30 per visit).
